ORDER AND PAYMENT POLICY
Welcome to the 寂STUDIO Order and Payment Policy. This policy sets out the terms and conditions applicable to the acquisition of our works and everyday items, requested at https://jakustudio.com or through our direct customer service channels and physical gallery. By making a purchase with us, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
PLACING ORDERS
Our process is designed to respect the unique nature of each piece. The order policy is divided into two categories:
1. DIRECT ONLINE PURCHASES
This category includes pieces and everyday items available for direct purchase on our website. After selecting your piece, the shipping costs will be automatically calculated during the checkout process. Deliveries are handled by Yamato Transport, applying a flat rate that varies depending on the destination area within Japan. Your order will be confirmed once the payment is received and approved.
2. PURCHASES UPON INQUIRY: PROJECTS AND FURNITURE
Certain pieces (such as large-scale furniture crafted in our workshop) require special transportation considerations. For the shipping of larger pieces, we kindly ask you to contact us via email at contact@jakustudio.com.
After confirming the details of the work, production will begin upon receipt of a 50% non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance must be paid before shipping. Custom-made works are not eligible for cancellation or return.
PRICES AND TAXES
All our prices are stated in Japanese Yen (JPY), our local currency. Please note that the prices shown on our website do not include Value Added Tax (VAT / Consumption Tax). This tax will be calculated and added to the total of your order later, precisely at the time of checkout.
For international shipments, the process will be carried out as Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU). As a customer, you assume responsibility for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees imposed by your country’s authorities. 寂STUDIO assumes no responsibility for these charges.
PAYMENT
We accept major credit cards for online purchases. For custom orders and direct transfers, our corporate account at GMO Aozora Net Bank under the name 寂STUDIO is available.
SHIPPING POLICY
SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
We carefully evaluate each piece to ensure it arrives at its destination as a true sanctuary of calm. We offer the following methods:
1. SHIPPING SERVICES
-Domestic Shipping (Japan): Deliveries within the country are handled by Yamato Transport. We base our costs on their flat rate, calculated according to the geographical destination area.
-Shipping of Large Pieces: For larger works that exceed standard dimensions, please contact us via email to coordinate an appropriate shipping method.
-Gallery Pickup: Please note that the option for in-person pickup at our space located in Hirono, Iwate Prefecture, is not yet available. However, we will soon enable this alternative so you can visit us and collect your piece personally.
2. PRODUCTION AND DELIVERY TIMES
-In stock pieces: Processed and prepared for shipping within 2 to 7 business days.
-Made to order: The artisanal creation time in our workshop will be specified during your consultation. Delivery will take place once the payment has been settled in full.
INSPECTION AND TRANSIT DAMAGE
Our works are meticulously inspected before leaving the workshop. Upon receiving your package, if you notice any visible damage to the packaging, it is crucial to immediately inform the transport company (Yamato) and make a record of it. Should the work itself be damaged, we kindly request you to document it with photographs before and after unboxing, and contact us within 72 hours at contact@jakustudio.com.
RETURN AND CARE POLICY
RETURNS
If you are not completely satisfied with a standard piece purchased directly online, we kindly ask you to contact us within 14 days of receipt. The items must be in pristine condition, unused, and retain their original packaging.
Exceptions: Returns or exchanges are not accepted for custom-made works, bespoke furniture, or pieces that have been altered by the customer. When exercising your right of return, the cost of return shipping will be borne by the customer.
NATURE OF MATERIALS: THE AESTHETICS OF WABI-SABI
At 寂STUDIO, we deliver wood allowing it to breathe, honoring its nobility and the aesthetics of wabi-sabi. Please consider the following before requesting a return:
-Variations in texture, color, and grain are traces of nature and are not considered defects.
-Changes resulting from natural wear and tear over time, as well as the aging that adds depth to the piece, are part of the life of the work and are not grounds for complaint.
WARRANTY AND DEFECTIVE ITEMS
If you discover a true production defect or structural damage unrelated to the natural behavior of the wood, we will proceed with the repair or replacement. Works damaged during transport or with manufacturing defects will be replaced within the normal production time required to recreate the piece artisanally in our workshop.
For any inquiries or doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at contact@jakustudio.com.
